Bring Back a Laser Cutter!
Plattsmouth Public Library
There were quite a few people who were sad to see the laser cutter leave when the Library Innovation Studio equipment was moved to the next library at the end of March. Since then, the library has been raising money to purchase a laser cutter for the public to use year-round.
The laser cutter is very versatile. It can be used to etch on wood, glass, ceramic tiles, and coasters; it’s even been used to etch on Legos and a brick. It can also cut intricate designs from paper!
The laser cutter ($12,000) requires a filter ($2,600) to remove the fumes from the air. Add a few supplies, and the goal is $15,000. So far, the library has over $4,700 earmarked for the project! The library is contributing over $2,000 from its budget, the Library Foundation has pledged $1000, and the city will add to that. Thanks to those individuals and businesses who have already donated to the project:
Judy Bell Cass County Bank Alfred G. Dietrich Marilyn Rishel |
Millard and Janice Carnes |
Schott Enterprises |
If you'd like to donate, please deliver or mail checks to the Plattsmouth Public Library, 401 Avenue A, Plattsmouth, NE 68048. Checks made out to the library will only be used for the purchase of a laser cutter; they will not be used for any other purpose. If you have any questions, contact Karen Mier at 402-296-4154 x23 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
See some of the items we've made with the Innovation Studio equipment!
