Plattsmouth Community Newsletter - April 22, 2026
Plattsmouth Police Department
We are very proud to be recognized as Nebraska’s safest city. It is an honor to serve this community, and we remain committed to doing our best to maintain that distinction.
Here is the 12th annual Safewise safest city report!

Cobalt Credit Union of Plattsmouth Supports CCSO K-9 Unit After Cruiser Loss - THANK YOU, Cobalt!!!!
Their recent donation will go directly toward outfitting a new K-9 patrol cruiser for Deputy Laursen and K-9 Samson. On March 15, during a response on Interstate 80 in severe whiteout conditions, our K-9 unit was struck in a multi-vehicle crash. The cruiser was a total loss. Both the deputy and K-9 were safe, but the program took a real hit.
We have a temporary setup in place, but it is not built for long-term use. A properly equipped K-9 vehicle includes heat alarms, remote door releases, kennel systems, and other safety measures that are not optional and are necessary. Support like this closes that gap.
