Opening at Cass County Veterans Service Committee
The Cass County Veterans Service Committee has an immediate opening for a committee member. Qualifications include having “served on active duty in one of the branches of the armed forces of the United States and have been discharged with a characterization of honorable as provided in revised State Statute 80-401.01.” Committee members must be residents of the State of Nebraska for five continuous years prior to assuming a committee appointment and must be a resident of Cass County. In order to maintain representation from throughout the county, preference will be given to veterans from the western portion of Cass County.

This grant is open to KAB affiliates and partner state recycling organizations only.
KAB is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2015 KAB/Lowe’s Community Improvement Grants! This program will award $675,000 in grants to KAB Affiliates and State Recycling Organizations for community improvement projects to be completed in 2015. Projects may range from restoring a neighborhood park to planting community gardens to leading disaster restoration to large-scale cleanups.
The Lowe’s/Keep America Beautiful Community Improvement Partnership Program consists of:
1) $5,000 Grants
2) $10,000 Grants
3) $20,000 Grants
Keep Cass County Beautiful may apply for ONE grant in each category. These grant applications should reflect the need for a high impact project in your community and you are strongly encouraged to involve your local Lowe's stores and Lowe’s Heroes.
All projects must be completed by December 1, 2015.

Sarpy County Athletic Events Coordinator Position
Nature of Work: Including, but not limited to: Performs a variety of skilled administrative and professional work requiring
considerable responsibility and independent judgment. EXAMPLES: Promote Sarpy County athletic event facilities and assist
incoming teams or participants with various needs (e.g., lodging, restaurants, etc.) during their stay. Work with the county sports
commission to develop plans for attracting and hosting sports related meetings and events. Work with management to plan and
carry out advertising of Sarpy County sports events. Provide event promoters with information about all County resorts/hotels,
attractions, restaurants, and businesses that meet the events specific needs. Act as a liaison between event promoters and the
hotel/business community. Develop and maintain database. Conduct hotel “requests for proposals” for room rates and other
features compiling and providing information in a timely manner. Prepare press releases and articles.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required.* Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or
business preferred. Four (4) years of experience in sporting event sales, marketing, business development or event coordination
required.* *Approved education or work experience beyond that required which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities MAY be
considered and substituted for the stated education or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s): Including, but not limited to: Considerable knowledge of athletic and
event promotions; Considerable knowledge of Sarpy County athletic venues; Knowledge of creating marketing materials for
sporting events; Knowledge of using social media for event promotions; Skill in presenting information and public speaking; Ability
to work independently; Ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions; Ability to navigate stressful situations while
maintaining composure; Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; Ability to prioritize work and carry out
assigned projects to completion; Ability to communicate, in English, orally and in writing.
Special Requirements: Valid drivers’ license. Driving history must meet eligibility requirements of 'Acceptable Driver’ by
County standards.
Location and Hours of Work: Sarpy County Tourism Department - 11314 Wickersham Blvd, Suite 400, Gretna, NE
68028. Full-Time. Due to the nature of the position, there may be varied shifts, weekends, nights, and early mornings.
Starting Wage: $20.72 per hour.

Lofte Scholarship Available for Graduating Seniors
Manley, NE [March 16, 2015] - The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces that it is currently accepting scholarship applications for 2015 graduating seniors now through April 1. The scholarship is based upon not only academic and extracurricular performance, but Lofte volunteerism and past participation in its live productions.

The Monthly meeting of the Plattsmouth Amateur Radio Club will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 8 am at Mom’s Café in Plattsmouth. Come early and enjoy breakfast and conversation.




Greetings! St. John the Baptist Catholic School has been a constant source of faith-centered education in the Plattsmouth area for 130 years. Through the efforts of parents, parishioners, and our generous community, an education at St. John the Baptist School has been made possible for generations of students since its inception in 1884.
Our largest fundraiser of the year, the Annual Spring Dinner Benefit, is fast approaching. This year’s theme is “All You Need is Love” and is scheduled for April 25, 2015 with social hour beginning at 5:15 and dinner at 6:45. The fun-filled event includes both a live and silent auction.
