State Treasurer Stenberg, Bank Officials to Help Launch

Nebraska NEST Financial Scholars at Elmwood-Murdock High School

Who:	Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg will help launch the financial literacy education program, Nebraska NEST Financial Scholars, at Elmwood-Murdock High School. The online program was developed by EverFi, Inc., of Washington, D.C. Joining in the event will be Rob Clements, president of American Exchange Bank in Elmwood, and Brian McHugh, president of Corn Growers State Bank in Murdock. The two banks are co-sponsoring the program at Elmwood-Murdock. The Nebraska Educational Savings Trust, a division of the State Treasurer’s Office, is statewide sponsor. Dan Novak, superintendent of Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools, also will participate. Elmwood-Murdock seniors and sophomores will attend.
When:	2 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014.

The Murray Presbyterian Deacons, under the name of "Mighty Murray Small Church", are raising funds to be donated to the Lori Williams family of Murray, NE. Lori was paralyzed due to an accident several months ago and now her family is under mounting financial stress. Lori's family will receive 20% of orders starting August 18 through October 2, 2014 and, after October 2, will receive 5% for one year.

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the Eighteenth ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 12, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.

Contestants can pre-register on line (http://www.greenblattandseay.com/schoolhouse_fiddling_bee_preregistration.shtml).

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session.
