MOVIE NIGHTS
Meet us for an evening under the stars to enjoy a movie on the big screen. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs, favorite snacks, and relax. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult 16 or older. Concessions will be available. Sponsored in part by One Life Church.

2014 Slide-A-Thon
Slides, Slides, and more Slides!!!! Stay tuned for details. All money raised will go to improvements of the Twin Rivers Water Park and Plattsmouth Community Center. Must be 48” tall to participate.

Nina: 2 yr old black/white domestic shorthair. Spayed female, up to date on vaccinations.
Parker: 1yr old Border Collie/lab mix. Neutered male, up to date on all vaccinations.
Housebroke, sweet, smart and good with kids and other dogs.
Barks at cats but stops when redirected. This is one great dog!
Adoption fee on all animals is $60.
This includes spay/neuter and vaccinations.
Microchips are an additional $25.
Adult Cats are always a free adoption to Senior Citizens!

Living History Day
Cass County Historical Society's Eighth Annual Living History Day will be Saturday, April 26. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will start at 10:00 a.m. by the Caboose at the end of Main Street where Ron Rookstool of Plattsmouth and Larry Hogya of Omaha will demonstrate Blacksmithing.
The Cook Log Cabin and the Burlington Northern Caboose will also be open for tours. The Blacksmithing demonstrations will continue until 3:00 p.m.
The Museum at 646 Main will open at 12:00 and remain open until 5:00 p.m. Demonstrations in the museum will include spinning by Dee Hogya of Omaha and weaving by Linda Barnard Duncan of Plattsmouth. Throughout the day, Florene Nickles will be playing the 1893 Packard Reed Organ.
From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., a May Basket Workshop for children ages 5 to 10 will be conducted by Cass County Retired Educators. The children will make a basket and learn about the May Day tradition. The last session will start at 2:30.
In the museum courtyard will be Quilting by Sandra Allgeier of Plattsmouth and Rope making by William Duff of Weeping Water. Farm equipment, including tractors, plows, cultivators, and corn planters will be on display in the shed in the courtyard.

What haunts owners of old homes?
Plattsmouth Conservancy to again offer free seminars on restoration of historic homes
They may not manifest right away and the problems that arise vary from hot water or HVAC
systems to siding, windows or a horde of issues that threaten all old home owners, leading
them to wonder, “What have I gotten myself into?”
In Plattsmouth, 50 percent or more of the homes are at least 50 years old, prompting
Plattsmouth Conservancy to put together a series of seminars designed to help with the
choosing, restoring and maintaining an older home, whether the style is mid-century,
Craftsman, bungalow or Victorian.
There will be a series of 4 seminars. The dates are May 6 and June 10 at the
Conservancy office, located at 437-1 Main Street. The time is 6:30-8:30 PM. There will be a
drawing for a door prize at each seminar.
The first in the series will be an overview of things to look for and what to do about them. The
next three seminars will delve into specifics associated with the restoration and maintenance of
the older home. At the end of each presentation, there will be a question and answer period.

If you want to join this program but do not have a computer, check with your local Extension office to see if they can set up an area to show it to those who would like to join in the program but don’t have access to a computer or the internet at home, work, or the library. Be sure to come early or call ahead so that you can get registered for the program before it begins.
Starting the week of March 31, if you plan to drive on Highway 75 between Union and Nebraska City, you will probably need to add at least a half hour to your trip.
A six-mile stretch of highway south of the Union corner will be shut down until September while crews rebuild the road.
Either plan to detour west on Hwy 34 to Hwy 50, then south to Hwy 2, or go across the Plattsmouth toll bridge to I-29 and down the interstate.
