Cass County Fair 4-H Auction Supporters (family, friends, businesses, alumni) are
invited to show support for Cass County 4-Hers by attending one of two 4-H auctions
held during the Cass County Fair.
• The 4-H cake auction starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening August 6, at the
open air auditorium on the Cass County fairgrounds. It provides an opportunity
to purchase fancy or decorated cakes, pies, and/or specialty breads baked and
decorated by 4-H members. The proceeds of this event will be divided between
the participating 4-Her and the Cass County 4-H Council. 4-H Council funds
raised at this event help sponsor activities for 4-H members throughout the year.
Auction supporters are invited to stay for the Fashion Show/Awards program
following the auction. A Sneak Peek and Refreshments will be held for everyone
at the 4-H Building following this event.
• The 4-H Livestock Auction starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, August 11,
in the livestock barn. Livestock judging awards will be presented to the 4-
Hers before the auction at 2:45 p.m. The Cass County 4-H Council clerks this
premium sale which is held for market animals only. Each exhibitor is allowed
to sell one animal of each species as premium only, meaning dollars per head not
cents per pound. Exhibitors retaining ownership will only receive the premium
from the sale. Exhibitors of shipped animals will receive the premium from the
buyer in addition to the sale proceeds from the buyer of the animal.
Who is ready for the Cass County Fair????
Here are some great NEW contests for you and yours to enter!

Plattsmouth Conservancy VIP Educational Program
On Tuesday, August 6th, in the lower level of the library the Plattsmouth Conservancy will host Jill Dolberg, who will lecture us on a property tax incentive that gives owners of historic buildings a temporary "hold" on property tax valuation increases when they rehabilitate a building. It has been used successfully across the state for projects large and small, including private residential homes.
Ms Dolberg is Compliance Coordinator and Acting Administrator of the Nebraska Valuation Incentive Program (VIP) at the Nebraska State Historical Society.
Paranormal Activity in the Library on DVDOn June 29, investigators from Tri-City Research and Investigations into the Paranormal (T.R.I.P.) spent the evening in the Plattsmouth Public Library. The team reported its findings and showed the DVD of their investigation to an audience of over 60 people on Saturday, July 13. The library will have this DVD ready to check out by July 18. Call the library if you'd like to be put on hold for it. |

Computer Classes will Resume in Late SummerThe following regularly scheduled computer classes will be offered in late August or September: Basic Computers, Basic Internet, Using the Internet Wisely, Word Processing, Intermediate Email, and Excel. They are repeated on a regular basis, with a different class each week. Brief descriptions and a schedule for the classes can be found on this class schedule. The classes are free, but class size is limited. Please call the library to be notified when the sessions are available or if you have questions. |
Adult Game Nights will Resume in OctoberThere will not be any adult game nights at the library until fall. Many people are out of town during the summer and those that stay in town take advantage of the nice weather to listen to music at the Plattsmouth Entertainment Center on Fridays. We hope to see our avid gamers when we resume adult game nights in October. |
