Radon Testing Kits

The Sarpy/Cass Health Department has partnered with the City of Plattsmouth to distribute free radon gas testing kits to the community. Please stop by the city office during normal business hours to pick up your free testing kit. Plattsmouth Swim Club - ITS HERE!

Swim Parents:

We are excited to introduce the NEW Plattsmouth Swim Club that is officially registered with USA Swimming! After several weeks of planning, organizing and getting certified, we are happy to present to you the following information.

The Plattsmouth Swim Club (PSC) will be a year round swim club that competes with all USA Swimming Guidelines. All swimmers who participate will need to be registered with USA Swimming. In addition to being registered with USA Swimming, you will also need to register with the PSC. The fees for each are outlined below.

PSC Monthly Club Fee - $30.00
USA Swimming Yearly Registration Fee - $64.00

PSC will be using software to register for all swim meets. This software & website will also be used to send out communication to all swim families. Swimmers are not required to attend swim meets but strongly encouraged. Each swim meet will have an entry fee and a fee for each event that the swimmer chooses to compete in. Additional details on swim meets will be given at the parent meeting.

Parent Meeting - August 24th - 7 pm at Senior Center - PCC

Here are some answers to your FAQ:

1. Practice will be Tuesday & Thursday's from 7 - 8:30 pm at Plattsmouth Community Center. Additional practices will be added to the schedule as the team grows in both swimmers and coaches.

2. Practice will be run by Head Coach Missy Berry who is trained and certified through USA Swimming.

3. You can join the PSC at any point during the year but the registration for both USA Swimming and the club must be done for each when you join. You do NOT have to join Plattsmouth Community Center.

4. Your USA Swimming membership will need to be renewed each year the swimmer participates. Sept 2016 - Dec 2017 is considered this next year.

5. Club membership is required for each swimmer.

6. Each family in the PSC will be required to participate in two fundraisers during the Fall / Spring year. One in late fall and one in early Spring. The fundraisers currently under consideration are swim-a-thon's. Each swimmer will be asked to raise or donate a minimum of $ 75 to the club.

7. After your initial registration, PSC will use a software system to collect monthly fees and fees for participating in swim meets. This payment can be connected to either your checking account or to a credit card.

8. Each swimmer will be required to have goggles, swim cap, fins and a water bottle. A bulk order for fins will be placed after registration. Snorkels will also be required but a bulk purchase will be made after fall swim-a-thon. As the club begins to acquire funds, the club will purchase additional training equipment for swimmers use.

Ready to join? Here are your next steps:

1. Complete the attached PSC Club Registration form and bring it to one of the Registration nights with your first months registration fee.

2. Complete the USA Swimming Registration form and bring it to one of the Registration nights with your yearly registration fee.

3. At registration, you may make payment with either a check or cash. After your initial payments, monthly dues will need to be connected to either a checking account or credit card. This will be set up through a link that will be sent out to you. Club payment and USA Swimming Registration Fee Payment MAY be a combined check at registration.

4. Bring a COPY of your birth certificate with you to registration that can be kept on file with your application.

Board is in need of assistance! If you are interested in participating on the PSC Board, we are in need of a Registrar and would like to find a dedicated Treasurer. Team apparel and a Team Spirit Committee will be fun additions to add as the club grows in numbers and strength. Please consider donating your time this fall & winter to help make this short-course season a success for the club.

The Verdeen cousins (Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette) could not have picked a worse time to schedule their family reunion. They face an uphill battle on the hottest day in July smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season. Soon a parade of wildly eccentric Verdeen's descend upon their southern town and things spin hilariously out of control. You will wish your own family reunions were this much fun!

This production runs for seven dates over the course of two weekends. Be sure to make your reservations and don't miss this family-friendly hootenanny!
