Flood Preparation Update from the City of Plattsmouth
TEMPORARY SUSPENSION of the DMV driver licensing services located in Plattsmouth, Cass County -- The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles announces the temporary suspension of the services beginning Monday (6/13). The suspension of service is necessary to assist with the completion of the Cass County Courthouse renovation.
“The Department has worked closely with the Cass County Board of Commissioners in an attempt to relocate our driver licensing services during the courthouse renovation,” said Beverly Neth, Director, Department of Motor Vehicles. “Much to everyone’s disappointment, none of the three facilities we investigated met our needs.”
“The Department will resume all driver licensing services in Cass County as soon as possible, said Neth. “In the meantime, I encourage those who are renewing to go to our website www.clickdmv.ne.gov to access our on-line driver license renewal process. It is an easy and quick process that can be used by many people.”
The Cass County Treasurer's Office will remain open to process duplicate and replacement non-commercial driver licenses and state ID cards. All motor vehicle services will be available as well.
All driver-licensing services are scheduled to resume on August 18th.

As most of you know our Plattsmouth Animal Control Officer, Sue Baker, is traveling to Joplin to aid in the rescue of the animals that were displaced, lost, stranded, etc.
Email from Sue:
I will be leaving on June 16th and return on June 22nd. I will be driving my humane vehicle which as most of you know a mini-van, I will have several kennels with me but I would like to pack as much as I can fit into this vehicle and take some supplies along with me. So if anyone wants to donate any of the below items please contact me or Betty Henry. My numbers are (402) 320-2882 or Betty at (402) 296-4191.
Here is a list of items that the temporary shelter in Joplin can use:
business items such as envelopes, sharpies, printer paper, pens, etc
bleach/cleaning supplies (no "sol" products, lysol etc as it is toxic to cats)
toys/chewies/stuffies for dogs and cats
dog and cat treats
blankets/towels (I have a couple big bags of these things that I will take)
(so far I have found nothing that says they need cat/dog food) and I can't get anyone by email or phone so not sure if they need that or not, but can't hurt to take some along)
anything else that you think would help over 500 displaced animals.
After talking with Sue about their needs she said that her space for packing supplies is pretty limited and if anyone is willing to donate to this cause, cash and gift cards would be preferable. Gift cards for Walmart, Petsmart, Petco or any place where they can purchase any of the above items would be great.
She asks that the money or gift cards be placed in an envelope and marked for Joplin Humane Society along with your contact information (name, address, phone number) so they can thank you. She plans to leave Plattsmouth early afternoon on Thursday 6/16. She wanted to stress the importance of the information to identify the person donating.
