Director
Omaha, Neb., Sept. 3,
2008 - The Cass County Nebraska Economic Development Council board of directors
today announced the appointment of John Yochum as the organization’s full-time
executive director. He will assume his responsibilities effective Sept.
16.
As executive director, Yochum will work with the 12-member Cass

Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
Yochum is currently the business

“We are delighted to have John help us
promote business development in Cass County. He brings more than 20 years
of experience in regional economic development to the table. This
appointment gives Cass County strong representation on the regional economic
development team. Business prospects now have the advantage of a one-stop

said Roger Wehrbein, chairman of the Cass County Nebraska Economic Development
Council.
Rod Moseman, vice president – economic development, for the
Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership, said, “John Yochum is an
excellent choice for this new position. His proven track record in the

gives Cass County a running start as it joins our GO! team. John understands the
industry, he has built relationships and he knows how to get things
accomplished. We look forward to continuing our relationship with John and
working with him to promote business development in Cass County.”
Yochum
will maintain offices at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce in downtown Omaha
as well as at the Plattsmouth Chamber of Commerce in Plattsmouth.
“Having worked with John at SCEDC we are confident that John will
do an exceptional job of representing Cass County. Although John will be missed
from SCEDC we look forward to working with him within the GO! partnership,” said
Charley Huddleston, president of SCEDC.
"John has truly been a stalwart
member of the staff since joining the organization in 1995. He will definitely
hit the ground running for Cass County. His experiences range from working with
start-up businesses to major manufacturing and service projects," said Toby
Churchill, executive director SCEDC.
"I look forward to continued
opportunities to work with this dynamic and professional economic development
team. Cass County offers expanded opportunities for businesses considering
growth or relocation in the metropolitan area. I’m committed to build upon
the momentum driving the business growth throughout the communities within Cass
County and developing relationships with both local business leaders and elected
officials,” said Yochum.
Yochum’s previous business leadership
experience includes employment with Downtown Omaha, Inc. and the Greater Omaha
